Eve cigarettes, manufactured in the USA and Germany, are a product of the Liggett Group, the smallest of the major U.S. cigarette manufacturers. They were introduced in 1971 as competition for rival Philip Morris’s Virginia Slims, a cigarette targeted at the growing female market. Virginia Slims were aimed at women who identified themselves as liberated, independent, and modern: Eve cigarettes were aimed at women contented to be feminine.
