Kent Cigarettes. Kent is a brand of cigarettes made by Lorillard Tobacco Company. Kent cigarettes were among the first cigarettes to introduce smoke filters in 1952. The brand was targeted to smokers who wanted a safer and milder cigarette. Kent cigarettes were the only product on the market at the time to use a charcoal impregnated Micronite filter. Kent became a very popular product in the 1950’s and 1960’s, particularly in the business community.
